This has been on my mind for some time so I decided to pour it on paper, sort of😀
You see I like listening to people’s stories, life experiences, I read about some incredible people and what they have overcome and I am like all pumped, very inspired.
The problem for me though is I want my message to have that effect but I don’t want any mess, I want the experience, the maturity, the admiration that comes with it but run away from the mess.
It’s like having a powerful testimony but with no test, becoming an overcomer with no challenges ? I have tried ways around it and it seems it just doesn’t work that way. Hear me right I am not saying we should desire to go through hardship just so we can share our stories but I am saying that if you are going through hell right now, then lessons learnt could become very impactful for the morrow.
On the other hand you can do all you can to live a very protected, keep myself to myself stand aloof- no involvement scandal free -mess free, no testing life but be prepared for a narrow impact on society.
It’s just a two sided story, if you watch the people that make things happen then that’s ok but if you choose to be a person that causes change then be prepared to be watched.
I have realised that authenticity carries a major risk of scandal, if you don’t believe me ask Hannah from the book of Samuel, her outpooured heartfelt prayer was mistaken for a drunken rant.
It’s ok to want a trouble free life, chances are that will not happen anyway, but if we do all we can to portray that version of ourselves then we should not expect a greater impact on the next generation.
Unfortunately or otherwise, it appears that impactful messages usually comes from some mess, the clue is in the word :mess-age. It only becomes a testimony when there is some form of test.
I guess all I am saying to myself is that next time I am going through any challenges, I should pay attention to the other side of the story. This may reduce the potential for bitterness as we sometimes just focus on the pain and never the lessons learnt.
Ah if only I could have that impactful story without any mess, that testimony without any test.
For your consideration
